Islam is the main religion in the Sudan, though in the south there are many Christians. English is often taught through the churches by the Christians.
The Islamic people celebrate a holy day called Eid. They also have a holy day that comes every year on January 1 which is a national holy day. They celebrate the day when the English got out of the Sudan and that was in 1956. They also have another holy day that they celebrate and each holy day has a reason.
In Islam they always pray five times in the day, and Friday is their weekend and that day they go to the mosque. In the Sudan most of the people concentrate on their religion and always pray and worship god. There are many things that the muslim people have to do and they are:
1. Pray five times in the
day.
2. Give money to the mosque
in Eid to give to the poor.
3. Fast the days in Ramadan.
4. Visit Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
The children in the Sudan are very happy when the holidays come because they get lots of things from their parents, things that they really want. And also people visit each other, and when somebody visits he brings candy and cookies to give away during the holy days.

Geography
The Sudan is the largest country

It's around one third the size of the United States. The Sudan is
located in north Africa.
The important thing in
the Sudan is the Nile River. There are two rivers that are
Located in Khartoum ( the capital of Sudan) and makes one Nile River.
They are the
White Nile and the Blue Nile. The Nile River goes a long way from
the middle of
Sudan to north Egypt. The Nile River is the longest river
in the world, and it's an
Important feature of both countries, Sudan and Egypt.
History
A long time ago, the Sudan
had a civilization in the north, and a pyramid was
Created there. The northern part of Sudan and the southern part
of Egypt are called
the Nubians, they helped the Egyptians in their civilization, and
also helped theme
to build the pyramid in Egypt.
The Sudan was attack many times.
The Sudan was attack by Mohammed Ali,
The Turkian leader. He sent his son Ismaeal with some Egyptian people
to attack
the Sudan. Ismaeal and his army had killed in the Sudan after they
crossed many
towns in the north, Ismaeal was killed by leader called Almack Nimer.
Almack
Nimer invited Ismaeal and all the people in his army to dinner.
After dinner they
liked to drink whisky. Almack Nimer and his people went out
side of the house
and burned Ismaeal and all his army. Mohammed Ali sent more
troops and took
control the Sudan.
Another attack was by
Nabellioun the French leader, who came by Egypt too,
And he also attacked Egypt. When he came to Sudan he asked
a Sudanese man to
tell him about the secrets of the ruling in Sudan, but the man did
not tell him about
anything. They told him that they would kill him if he didn't tell
them. So the man
told them all about the secrets. Then when the man told them all
about the secrets
of the ruling in Sudan, Nabellioun and his army killed him, Some
people asked
Nabellioun why he killed the man, and he said because if another
man came to
attack the Sudan the people like this man would told him about the
secrets too.
Another attack was by
the British, and they also came to the Sudan by the
way of Egypt. The British ruled for along time. They got out from
Egypt about
1942. Abd Alnaser is an Egyptian leader who came out with the revolution
in Egypt,
and became the first president of Egypt. In 1956 the British stopped
their ruling in
Sudan. And from that day Sudan became a Republic and Abd Allah Khalil
was the
first president of Sudan.
From 1956 until now, the
Sudan has seen many changes in the government.
There are lots of the opposing parties in Sudan now. Some of them
left the Sudan, and
there are others. There is now an opposition newspaper that comes
every day to
show the people there opinion on the ruling in Sudan.
